“Kisi Roz” from Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha Review: Maithili Thakur’s Voice Fails to Capture the Heartbreak of Ajay Devgn & Tabu
Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s poignant love story, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, hits theaters on July 5, and a new track from the film, “Kisi Roz,” has just been released. Sung by Maithili Thakur and composed by MM Kreem, the song is the third addition to the film’s soundtrack, following the less impactful tracks “Ae Dil Zara” and “Tu.”
While Manoj Muntashir’s lyrics delve into deep emotional territory, “Kisi Roz” struggles to resonate due to a mismatch between Thakur’s voice and the song’s intended emotion. Despite the depth in the lyrics, Thakur’s folk-style voice fails to convey the necessary warmth and pathos, leaving the heartbreak portrayed by Ajay Devgn and Tabu feeling disconnected.
MM Kreem’s composition leans towards a semi-classical style to accommodate Thakur’s voice, but this choice doesn’t quite align with the lyrical intensity of Muntashir’s work. The song might have benefitted from a voice with a more haunting or soulful quality, such as Jonita Gandhi’s or Bhavya Gandhi’s, to better reflect the emotional weight of the lyrics.
For now, “Kisi Roz” may not hit the emotional high notes expected from this dramatic love story, but it remains to be seen how it fits within the narrative of Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha.
