Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha has voiced his support for his daughter Sonakshi Sinha’s marriage to Zaheer Iqbal. He emphasized that their union is legitimate and affirmed his unwavering support for their relationship, stating that the couple has his full blessings.
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal celebrated their happily ever after with a June wedding, but not without a few swirling rumors. Leading up to the nuptials, whispers suggested that Sonakshi’s family was not entirely on board with her choice.
The Sinhas swiftly dispelled these rumors when Poonam and Shatrughan Sinha warmly attended the wedding and gave their blessings. Shatrughan Sinha has now publicly reaffirmed his support for his daughter’s marriage, emphasizing that he stands firmly by Sonakshi.
In an interview with IANS, Shatrughan addressed the speculation head-on, stating, “This is a matter of marriage… If the kids chose to marry, it is neither illegal nor unconstitutional. They did so with their wishes and our blessings, and I fully support it.”
He further elaborated, “Who will stand with my daughter if not me? Poonam and I celebrated her wedding together. It’s all about their happiness.” Shatrughan expressed his joy, calling Sonakshi and Zaheer a perfect match and noting that he is pleased with their union.
Sonakshi and Zaheer, who had been together for seven years, exchanged vows on June 23, 2024. Their intimate civil ceremony was followed by a lavish reception at Bastian, attended by close friends and family.
Professionally, Sonakshi and Zaheer’s collaboration includes the 2022 film Double XL and a music video titled Blockbuster. Sonakshi recently starred in the Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar and the Zee5 film Kakuda, alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem.
