Taapsee Pannu, set to star in Kanika Dhillon’s upcoming action film Gandhari, recently reflected on her role in the 2015 spy thriller Naam Shabana. She spoke about how she took on a spy film before it became a popular trend in Bollywood.
“At a time when spy films were not the trend, that’s when I did it and got done with it,” Taapsee shared. “Now that the genre has made a comeback, I was offered a few similar films, but I turned them down because I felt I had already done it, and those were well-received by the audience.”
In Gandhari, Taapsee reunites with screenwriter Kanika Dhillon for a new kind of action thriller, marking a departure from her previous roles. Comparing her character in Gandhari to the spy in Naam Shabana, she said, “The audience loved me in that spy role. But in Gandhari, I’m not a spy; I’m a mother on a mission for revenge.”
Taapsee was last seen in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, a pulp thriller also written by Kanika Dhillon.
